Common questions before you request quotes
How do I get life insurance quotes?
Enter your ZIP code and answer a few short questions about yourself, including whether you use tobacco. We pass your request to licensed carriers, agents and marketing partners who write life insurance in your state so they can follow up with options. The service is free to use and you are never obligated to buy.
What information do I need to request a life insurance quote?
You will be asked your date of birth, your gender, whether you use tobacco, whether you are currently disabled, and how to reach you. Insurers price life insurance on age, health, and lifestyle, so before issuing a policy they usually ask more detailed health questions and may request a medical exam or records.
What is the difference between term and whole life insurance?
Term life insurance covers you for a set number of years and pays a benefit only if you die during that term. Whole life, a form of permanent insurance, lasts for your lifetime as long as premiums are paid and builds a cash value over time. Term coverage usually costs less at the start; permanent coverage does not expire. A licensed agent can explain how each works for your situation.
How much life insurance do I need?
It depends on what you want the money to do: replace your income for a number of years, pay off a mortgage or other debts, fund education, or cover final expenses. Many people start by adding up those obligations and subtracting savings and existing coverage. A licensed agent can walk through the calculation with you.
Why does tobacco use matter for life insurance?
Insurers rate tobacco users differently because of the higher health risk, so it is one of the first questions asked. Answer accurately: a misstatement on an application can lead to a claim being denied later. Many insurers offer their non-tobacco rates again after a period without tobacco use, on terms each company sets itself.
Are you an insurance company?
No. We are not an insurer or an insurance agency. We do not issue policies, bind coverage, set rates, or give insurance advice. We connect you with licensed carriers, agents and marketing partners who do, and any policy you buy is a contract between you and that company.
